An Energy Service Company (ESCO) is a company that provides energy efficiency-related services including energy audits, technical consultancy, system design, project financing, implementation of energy-saving measures, as well as Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) project management.

In line with the enforcement of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Act 2024 [Act 861], the Energy Commission implements an eligibility review for companies seeking recognition as an ESCO to ensure compliance with the prescribed technical, competency, and governance requirements.

This recognition aims to strengthen industry confidence in qualified energy service providers while supporting the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives in a more systematic, high-quality, and sustainable manner across Malaysia.
